Rockport Beach – Texas

Rockport Beach in Texas is a great destination for families looking for a fun and relaxing vacation. Located at the edge of the city of Rockport, Rockport Beach is the first Blue Wave certified beach in the state. With its beautiful views and family-friendly atmosphere, it’s no wonder why so many people flock to this beach every year and it’s one of our best Texas beaches.

The beach itself is long and sandy, with plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing, and playing in the sand. There are also pavilions available to rent for weddings or family gatherings. For those looking to fish, there are plenty of species available throughout the year including redfish, flounder, speckled trout, and more.

For those who want to take a dip in the water but don’t want to swim too far out into the bay, shallow water lets kids and families play and relax pretty far our – not too far though! Grab a cold beverage and sit on the many shallow sand bars 50 (even 100-200) feet away from the shoreline. This also makes it perfect for younger children who may not be comfortable swimming out too far yet.

Across the beach entrance is a large swimming hole adjacent to a boat waterway. Families love the swimming hole with a sandy beach shore and we have seen dolphins swimming in the area just a few feet away from us!

In addition to swimming and fishing, there are also palapas (shaded structures) available that provide an ideal spot for picnicking or just relaxing in the shade after a day at the beach (get there early though, they go fast!) There’s also a shower facility that can be used to rinse off after spending time in the water or sand.

If you’re looking for something more active than lounging on the beach or fishing off shore, there are several activities in Rockport proper. You can also take advantage of some of the other activities offered such as bird watching or kayaking along Aransas Bay.

No matter what type of vacation you’re looking for, Rockport Beach has something for everyone!
