Laguna Madre – Texas

Laguna Madre is a shallow, hyper-saline lagoon located at the very southern tip of Texas. It runs from South Padre Island to Port Mansfield and is home to incredible fishing opportunities. With its unique island atmosphere and vibrant sporting destination, it’s no wonder why Laguna Madre has become such a popular spot for anglers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Fishing in Laguna Madre

The two bay–gulf passes in the lower Laguna Madre offer fishing opportunities for snook, gray snapper, Florida pompano and barracuda not found in the upper part of the lagoon. The King Ranch shoreline is a private ranch that is a popular place to find year round redfish and trout. Many anglers visit the area to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

The Upper Laguna Madre also offers great fishing opportunities with its higher salinity than most area bays. Anglers can catch speckled trout, redfish, flounder, black drum and other species throughout the year. During certain seasons, you can also find tarpon swimming through the waters of Laguna Madre.
